How My Study Plan builds your timetable

Published by Reefwatch · Updated 7 August 2026

My Study Plan is a transparent, rules-based scheduling tool. It does not use generative AI and it does not send your subjects or dates to a server.

In one sentence

The planner turns your available minutes into study blocks, gives more chances to important and lower-confidence subjects, respects days off and exports the result on your device.

1. Inputs and validation

The planner checks subject names, dates, time ranges, session lengths, breaks and selected days off. A plan can contain up to 15 subjects, eight sessions per day and 31 days in one non-recurring export. These limits keep browser-generated files manageable.

2. Priority scoring

Each subject receives a score from importance, confidence and deadline proximity. Higher importance raises the score. Lower confidence raises it again. A close exam or target date adds urgency. The scheduler also reduces the score of the subject used in the previous block so a balanced plan does not become needlessly repetitive.

3. Building each day

The system begins no earlier than the time you say you can study. It divides the available minutes into sessions and places the selected break between them. Chosen days off remain empty. Catch-up blocks appear periodically so one missed task does not require rebuilding the entire timetable.

4. Exam-day behaviour

When an exam date is supplied, the subject becomes more urgent as the date approaches. Near the exam, the session changes to lighter review rather than scheduling a punishing new workload immediately before the assessment.

5. Exports and storage

The generated plan is saved in localStorage on the current browser. PDF output uses the browser's print system with an A4 landscape colour layout. Calendar exports use the iCalendar format. Weekly recurring exports use recurrence rules instead of duplicating months of events.

What the planner cannot know

Editorial method

Study guides are written for the specific scheduling problems the planner addresses. We aim to give a direct answer, a practical example and clear limitations. We do not change dates merely to make old pages look new. Corrections can be sent to [email protected].

Try the method: answer five questions, inspect the result and adjust any session that does not fit your real week.
